State Family Public Housing
The Brookline Housing Authority manages a total of 436 housing units dedicated for families. These units are spread across state and federal public housing developments. The state public housing program includes 360 units. The federal public housing program includes only 76 units.

State Eligibility Requirements
Household Income Requirements: Applicant household income (including income from assets) cannot be greater than the column for each household size shown below.
The BHA also checks the following for all applicant household members:
Credit report (18+)
Landlord history (18+)
Criminal history (14+ and any Personal Care Assistant)
How to Apply
The state family waiting list is currently open for all unit types (1-5 bedrooms). Potential applicants should visit the state CHAMP website and fill out the necessary information. Completed preliminary applications may be mailed, faxed or emailed with signature, or brought to the main office at 90 Longwood Avenue. Please Note: Due to the COVID-19 Health Crisis, hand deliveries of applications will not be accepted until further notice.
You will receive an acknowledgement of the receipt of your application in approximately 30 days. The receipt will have a Control Number and the approximate time of your wait.
